Short CV
I am a Research Assistant and PhD candidate in the Distributed Systems Group at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Friedemann Mattern.
Before joining the PhD program in October 2014, I obtained my master's degree in Computer Science from EPFL, Switzerland.
I also hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
During my master studies I did two internships, one at Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer and one at ABB Corporate Research Center where I worked on my master thesis.
My research is aimed at developing innovative technologies which enhance people's interaction capabilities.
It is at the intersection of human-computer interaction and machine learning with a focus on eye tracking.
Nowadays, most of my efforts are directed towards building systems which can estimate the point of gaze from a single RGB camera (either model-based or appearance-based gaze estimation).
I also have an interest and have worked with wearable eye trackers and gesture recognition systems running on wearable devices.
