I am a Ph.D. student in the Networks and Operating Systems Group, headed by Timothy Roscoe, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich, since June 2007. Prior to that I graduated (Dipl.-Inf.) from the Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany in 2006 with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Music. Near the end of my diploma studies, I spent 10 months in the USA, both on the east (Computer and Network Systems, National Science Foundation, Washington, DC) and the west coast (Distributed Systems Laboratory, University of California, Riverside) as a visiting researcher. In 2008 and 2009, I accomplished two internships, both of them at Microsoft Research, in Cambridge, UK and Mountain View, CA.
I was born in Oldenburg, situated in north-west Germany, and enjoyed living a good deal of my youth in the cozy area of Bad Zwischenahn.
These days, I work mainly within the Barrelfish operating system project.
Please check my CV if you're really interested.
I am particularly interested in Networks and Operating Systems... Apart from that, I also enjoy Distributed Systems and Compilers with some Graph Theory on the side.
Fall Term 2009: Advanced Operating Systems
Spring Term 2009: Advanced Operating Systems
Spring Term 2008: Advanced Operating Systems
Fall Term 2007: Advanced Topics in Operating System Kernel Design
Apart from CS, I enjoy doing music (I used to play the violin for a long time and do all sorts of stuff with the computer). I also enjoy going Skiing in the winter.
In my teens, I used to be active in
the Demoscene,
a computer art
subculture
and I have fond memories of the good old times. You
might still occasionally find me at a demoparty (like
2007's Evoke), but I don't
really have time for that anymore...
