Abstract

The education of control engineers is in a transient state. Computers are introduced for various purposes into the educational process. The goals of compulsory education in computers and control in the electrical engineering curriculum at ETH Zurich are described briefly in the following. Different ways of using computers to a considerable extent in control education are surveyed. The operating environment, consisting of hardware, software and laboratory processes, is also described because of its importance in the educational process.
